Infertility

Infertility is defined as a couple can not get pregnant despite trying for one year. A broader view of infertility includes not being able to carry a pregnancy to term and have a baby.
Causes of Infertility on the Female Side:
Tubal factors 35%, Endometriosis 35%, Ovulatory disorders 25%, Unexplained 20%.
Male side infertility factors include:
Varicocele 40%, Unexplained 25%, Infections 20%, Immunological factors 5%, Anatomical defects 5%, Blocked tube 3% and Hormonal factors 2%.
Combined Infertility:
One third of the infertility cases are caused by a subfertile conditions in both the male and female.
Traditional Chinese Medicine has helped many couples struggling with infertility achieve their dream of having a baby naturally. Before you take TCM treatment, acupuncture or herbal medicine, you should get a diagnosis from medical doctor and, if your infertility is not caused by any physical defect, tell TCM Dr. Sun about your diagnosis results.
Infertility is not only related to your body but your age, your environment and your lifestyle. Dr. Sun will ask you questions about all these aspects while diagnosing your problem.
TCM distinguishes infertility as Primary Infertility and Secondary Infertility. In Primary Infertility, causes are (1) kidney Qi asthenia, (2) liver and kidney deficiency, (3) Qi and blood asthenia and (4) liver and heart Qi stagnation. For the Secondary Infertility, there are many reasons for the problem such as (1) Qi stagnation and blood stasis, (2) interior retention of phlegm dampness and (3) downward migration of damp heat. These theories will guide TCM Dr. Sun to identify the real cause of the infertility and the corresponding treatment of herbal medicine and acupuncture will be prescribed.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrial stroma and glands, which should only be located inside the uterus) is found elsewhere in the body.
Endometriosis is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain and infertility in women.
Typical symptoms of endometriosis include:

* Painful periods / * Infertility / * Heavy or irregular bleeding  / * Pain during ovulation / * Painful bowel movements or urination during period / * Pain during or after sex / * Lower back pain / *Diarrhea / * Constipation / * Stomach bloating / * Fatigue / *Increased premenstrual symptoms
Endometriosis is usually caused by the following:
(1) mental depression, unsmooth flowing of Qi and retention of blood stasis:
(2) invasion of pathogenic cold in uterus;
(3) improper sex and over consumption of kidney Qi;
(4) weakness of visceral Qi and unsmooth flowing of Qi and blood;
(5) abnormal blood clots by delivery or surgery.
Each of these causes have typical corresponding symptoms and are classified as, in the point of view of symptom differentiation in TCM:
(1) kidney asthenia and blood stasis;
(2) cold coagulation and blood stagnation;
(3) Qi stagnation and blood stasis and
(4) heat stagnation and blood stasis.
Another syndrome is called Adenomyosis which is caused by the endometrium growing into the myometrium. This condition is mainly caused by retention of blood stasis in the uterus. Blood stasis results from emotional depression, inhabitation of liver Qi, unsmooth circulation of blood and Qi. (1) Cold coagulation and blood stasis; (2) Qi stagnation and blood stasis; (3) Qi asthenia and blood stasis; All these are the syndrome differentiations in TCM.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is characterized as chronic annovulation, amenorrhea or scanty menorrhea, infertility, obesity, pilosity and bilateral cystic enlargement of ovary. Menopause

Menopause is the medical term for the end of a woman's menstrual periods. It is a natural part of aging, and occurs when the ovaries stop making hormones called estrogens. This causes estrogen levels to drop, and leads to the end of monthly menstrual periods. As most women approach menopause, their menstrual periods become irregular. Other common symptoms include:
* Aching joints
* Sexual desire changed
* Related to premenstrual syndrome (PSM)
* Sweating
* Frequent urination
* Headaches
* Hot flashes
* Insomnia
* Mood changes
* Night sweats
* Vaginal dryness
* Osteoporosis
* Depression
* Anxiety
One or more of these symptoms or none may appear. They are unpredictable and disturbing if a woman doesn't know they are related to menopause.
The side effect of
Hormone Therapy caused people to seek an alternative treatment of the symptoms. Natural therapy is a good choice. In Sun's Clinic, acupuncture and herbal medicine are used to regulate the patient's body in a state of harmony and balance and eliminate the symptoms. With her expertise and experience, Dr. Sun will take care your problem and also give you some directions about your diet and lifestyle to relieve the symptoms.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome with features that include chronic, widespread musculoskeletal pain and stiffness and associated with fatigue, poor sleep and the presence of discrete tender points. Fibromyalgia affects millions of people, primarily women between the ages of 35 to 55. One small survey estimated that approximately 20% of fibromyalgia patients treated at a university-based clinic in the United States tried acupuncture within 2 years of diagnosis. Symptoms and associated syndromes are:  Pain, deep muscular aching, throbbing, shooting, and stabbing; Fatigue; Sleep Disorder; Migraine or tension-type headaches; Constipation, diarrhea, frequent abdominal pain, abdominal gas, and nausea; * Premenstrual syndrome and painful periods, chest pain, morning stiffness, cognitive or memory impairment, numbness and tingling sensations, muscle twitching, irritable bladder .

Chronic body system malfunction is the main reason for fibromyalgia. The long term stressful work and modern life gradually disharmonized your body causing fibromyalgia. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture can be used to help alleviate fibromyalgia symptoms by reducing inflammation, stimulating hormones, reinforcing your immune system and bring your body back to normal balance.

A number of different chronic illnesses, such as: chronic pain, including fibromyalgia; acute pain; gastrointestinal problems, like irritable bowel syndrome; cardiovascular problems; nerve and muscle disorders can also be treated using acupuncture and acupressure techniques.
